Visit from the North

Last weekend we had 5 friends over from Germany. They drove over 10 hours to stay with us for just two days. Friday we visited some of our friends in Umbertide.
Saturday we had a great Prayer time together and prepared some stuff for the Sunday School.
In the afternoon Bible study and in the evening a fabulous meal...
On Sunday Karsten preached and I translated, say also sang a German worship song with us.
It was a very encouraging and refreshing time with them.

Great weekend with our friends from Germany

We are clay in the Potters hands

Took this photo this morning at the market. It reminds me so much on Isaiah 64:8
Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.

Alive among the dead

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5

sunflower
Seeing this sunflower this morning on a walk with my wife Rebecca, it reminded me of this passage in the Word of God. God made us alive with His son Jesus, by His grace and not by our works. Working in a country like Italy, where the religious system is based on works, makes it sometimes difficult to explain the real meaning of this biblical concept. We pray that we can live it with our every day life and with our words.

Earthquake

Tonight we had a little earthquake here in Umbertide. The epicenter was 20 minutes from our house. Rebecca was sleeping when our bed moved for around 3 seconds. But everybody is doing good here.

Summer Games 2013

We finished the summer games for kids in the park last week on Friday.
This year we had very few kids. It was a very hot week and many children were on vacations...
But we had around 2 new kids each day, we pray that they return to the English Club we'll start in October.

It was a good program with craft, games, songs and Bible stories about who is Jesus and why He is so important for our lives.

Prayer Conference in Austria

On Thursday we just came back from our annual prayer conference in Millstatt, Austria. It was a good time with our fellow missionaries who are working in Italy.

50th anniversary of Thomas's parents

Last week we had the great joy to attend my parents 50th wedding anniversary.
What a privilege for me to preach at the ceremony. It was about Psalm 27:1 and Romans 8:28

Summer Camp 2013 in Tuscany

In July we served again at the Summer Camp for kids in Tuscany. It was a great time of fellowship, God's Word and fun. If you want to pray for the kids who gave their lives to Jesus, would be great!

Missions conference Spring 2013

Last Sunday we had our yearly Missions conference at the German Missionary Fellowship (DMG) in Sinsheim. Around 1100 people came to this conference and it was great to see the interest in world wide missions. Rebecca and I were responsible for the youth program in the morning. We had around 30 kids in a tent from Kirghistan called Yurt.

Italian coffee is indispensable

Living in Germany, even for just a couple months, makes it difficult to have good Italian coffee. But fortunately we have a little coffee maker, called Mokka. It works with electrical power, so we can carry it with us when we are visiting friends and churches.

We are in Germany

Since a few weeks we are in Germany for our furlough time. Traveling around for visiting friends, supporters, family and churches. It's a blessed time, even if it's tiring sometimes...
